Wilfrid Laurier University

Laurier has two campuses in Waterloo, and Brantford, they have an office in Chongqing, China which opened in 2007. Wilfrid Laurier has a Faculty of Social Work in Kitchener and an MBA program in Toronto during the weekends.

History

  • Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo was inaugurated in 1911.
  • In 1973, they changed their name from Waterloo Lutheran University to Wilfrid Laurier University.
  • It was named after Sir Wilfrid Laurier who’s been on 2 Canadian stamps and is on the $5 bill. He was the 7th Prime Minister Canadas had.
  • Sir Wilfrid was a nation builder, as he was known for liberty for individuals and his talent in making resolutions.
  • Then later on in 1999, they opened a campus in Brantford.

Laurier allows several students to achieve what they want to accomplish. This university is known for Business Administration, Game Design & Development, and Law & Arts. The Business Administration program uses instructions that are case-based, simulations – games, several projects, c0-op and several business executives visit the students while giving them a display of the real-world and the companies out there. Double degree and specializations are available if needed by a student. The Game Design and Development program is offered at the Brantford Campus; it develops the skills required not only to design games, managing projects, and entrepreneurship but also to teach the students how transformative games are used in different areas, i.e., education, corporate training, and health care. The Law & Arts program is an opportunity that allows students to obtain a bachelor of arts degree from Laurier while earning a Law degree from the University of Sussex in the U.K. all this in only six years.
