What does a pharmacist do anyway:

Pharmacists have licensed health care professionals dedicated to improving patients health, by educating patients about drug use and illness prevention, monitoring patient progress and advising physicians or medical issues.

Graduate from high school:

You need to pass the General Education Development (GED) Test. While in high school, you need to pay special attention to science courses, such as Biology, chemistry, and physiology. When you are in these classes early on will tell you if a pharmacist is a good choice for you.

Get a bachelor’s degree:

You will need a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from a 4-year institution to apply for pharmacy school. It is required you complete 2-years of pre-pharmacy coursework during this time you will learn, Anatomy, Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, Sociology.

Take the PCAT ( Pharmacy College Admission Test):

This test is created and designed to be used in the admission process for pharmacy schools. It tests both overall academic ability and scientific knowledge. Prepare for the test by studying the PCAT handbook/guidelines, and consider taking a PCAT preparatory class or hiring a private tutor to help you study.

Obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited pharmacy school:

This Program will take 4-years to complete. While in Pharmacy school, you will study subjects like Pharmacology, and medical ethics in a classroom setting. you will work in hospitals and pharmacies under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Get Licensed:

It is required to have a license to practice pharmacy. You need to pass the NAPLEX ( North America Pharmacist Licensure Examination) to gain License and take the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam ( MPJE).
